Being Organized Equals More Time for Family

Working as a green professional organizer a lot of my clients are busy moms’ looking for help to simplify their lives.  As a Mom you not only have to keep yourself organized but your kids too and sometimes that even includes your husband. Being organized will help you save money and time: more time you can spend with your family. Here are a couple of quick tips to simplify your life and get organized.

  1. The Book- The days of writing on loose pieces of paper and post-it’s are over. Once you write it down it’s free to float all over the house so it will be hard to find when you need it. And all this loose paper builds up clutter in your home. My solution is to get a small book like a journal that can fit in your purse. Now the discipline, everything you write down goes into that book. If it ends up on a separate piece of paper transfer it into the book.  That way when you are looking for that number of the great babysitter that was recommended you will know exactly where to find it.  And the more you write in the book the more valuable it will become, so make sure your name and number are clearly visible incase you misplace it.

  1. Pay Bills Online with Auto-pay-Did you know that 23% of adults say they pay bills late (and incur fees) because they lose them.  And if all U.S. households received and paid their bills online, it would eliminate more than 800,000 tons of waste each year. So no more late fees and saving trees? Yes, it will take you a little bit of time to set it up but you only have to do it once. Gather up all of your bills and set aside sometime to do one at a time. Make sure you write down all of your log in information and passwords and make sure to keep it in a safe place.

  1. Kids’ Artwork-Your kids are producing dozens of masterpieces a week. So how do you preserve and keep all this artwork?  Easy, digitize it. Take a picture of all of their artwork and then only keep a few original pieces. Then you can upload them to an online website to create a book for you and your family to enjoy for years to come. Saves you space and keeps the artwork organized.

  1. Wow – these are some great ideas. I wish I could have done the digitized art work routine when my kids were still that little. Wait! I still can – at least with some of it. I’ve got a couple of boxes of kid artwork up on a high shelf in the closet. Thanks!
