H&M just launched The Garden Collection for Spring 2010. This line is made with environmentally adapted materials like recycled polyester, organic cotton, and organic linen. As the desire by consumers for organic clothing grows, H&M created a line that would please their customer and contribute to a more sustainable world. This is a store known for quick and inexpensive fashion. This looks like a step in the right direction!

My favorite looks from this collection include the adorable blue short with ruffles paired with a floral blouse and this tunic with the khaki short below. See the H&M fashion video and view the The Garden Collection line.

Hoping that women across America will buy this line and show that “going green” is ultra eco-chic!

While its great that H&M is using a small portion of organic cotton, recycled fabrics, etc, they are by no means a sustainable company. They are a hugely unsustainable corporation that employs sweatshop labor.
Whats worse is that 21 workers died in a factory fire in Bangladesh, where the doors were reportedly locked, and the fire equipment was reportedly bunk. Not to mention, the death toll in the Bangladeshi garment industry since 2000 now stands at 230.

I agree with Nubius Organics, H&M has been involved with some dubious manufacturing policies, not to mention a recent controversy over questionable sources of organic cotton.
Nonetheless it is good to see more eco-friendly options on the market at more affordable prices. Baby steps!
